Disturbing news emerges after a missing fitness TikToker is found dead

A suspect is in custody after investigators found the remains of a missing Georgia TikTok fitness star, who was last seen at Walmart.

Minelys Zoe Rodriguez-Ramirez, 25, visited the Walmart in Cornelia on October 22 to meet someone interested in buying one of her photos. He was last seen entering the store around 9:30 p.m., according to a local news release. Now it’s Habersham.

The last text recorded by Rodriguez-Ramirez was sent to her partner, Julio Tovor, saying, “I’m waiting for my brother to pick her up.” When she did not return home from her trip to Walmart, her family reported her missing on October 23.

A week later, his body was found on October 29 in a remote area near Walmart by the Georgia Bureau of Investigations and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office. His car was found parked outside a Walmart, raising questions about whether he drove it himself or whether it was moved after his death.

GBI agents arrested Angel DeJesus Rivera-Sanchez, 24, in Atlanta on October 28 on kidnapping charges related to Rodriguez-Ramirez’s disappearance. They then took Rivera-Sanchez to the Habersham County Detention Center, where they charged her with kidnapping.

While it remains unclear whether Rivera-Sanchez was the person who bought the photo at Walmart or if it was a random attack, prosecutors will also charge him with murder in connection with Rodriguez’s death- Ramirez, according to a press release.

Newsweek contacted the Georgia Bureau of Investigation, which said, “There are no new developments to report. The investigation is active and ongoing.”

The remains were taken to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office, where the medical examiner will perform an autopsy.

Newsweek reached the medical examiner’s office, however, they have not yet responded.

Who was Minelys Zoe Rodriguez-Ramirez?

Minelys Zoe Rodriguez-Ramirez, known as “Mimi” to her friends and family, had more than 40,000 followers on TikTok.

She was the mother of a 9-year-old daughter and moved to Georgia from Puerto Rico six years ago for a job opportunity. He accepted a job at a manufacturing company called Mount Vernon Mills Inc.

Newsweek reached out to Mount Vernon Mills Inc., however, they have not responded.

Rodriguez-Ramirez’s family plans to return his body to the US island for burial, according to their GoFundMe page.

“We are raising money for funeral expenses to take him to Puerto Rico and give him a Christian burial on the island where he was born,” his mother Carmen Ramirez said on GoFundMe. “Thank you in advance. God bless you.”
